On March 17, 2020, we were told at ESU 10 we were going to be closing the office and would have to work from home. All of our school districts were also beginning the process of Remote Learning that same week. There was a lot of uncertainty at that time, and there still is.
But our teachers really rose to the challenge and made it work. Teachers with spotty internet, teachers with toddlers, teachers with teenagers--all made it work! The word that keeps popping in my mind during this time is... Resilience!
The kids sacrificed hanging out with friends, playing sports, going to malls and movies and restaurants, graduations, and proms. But they did it. Resilience!

But then I remembered taking the photo below on my brick patio this spring. The viola plant somehow had found its way into a crack and managed to grow roots and bloom! I couldn't bear to pull them out so they stayed there for weeks. I even watered them! I love the happy faces! And resilience!
And with all of the uncertainties of reopening school this fall, I know for sure that teachers will be resilient and our children will be welcomed back with love and strength and determination. And I can't wait to see the happy faces!
