Yesterday was the Market to Market Relay, or M2M! This is my second time running this relay that starts in Omaha and ends in Lincoln, winding its route through rural eastern Nebraska country! This year I was on a team from Cairo, including my daughter Micki, husband Jim, running pals Tanya and Matt, and some other friends from my little town. Our team name was Pharoahs from Cairo, because they rhyme but Cairo also has an Egyptian theme!
It was a lot of fun. This is our team before the race began. Our wave went off at 6:40 and it was still dark, so our first runner Tanya had to wear reflective gear! The rest of us piled into the suburban to meet her at the first exchange zone. The runners have to hand off a "baton." Actually, it's not a baton but a timing chip! I was runner #4 and my two legs were 4.8 hilly and 2.7 easy! It was fun being part of a team, and it made me run harder! I had to hand off to Jim. Here are a few more pictures from the day, including the team at the after race party!
